Who is JJ?
I got started with laser engraving in December of 2022, when I got my very first laser (a 20W xTool D1 Pro). Just about a month later (January of 2023), my wife and I made our first sale of a laser-made product on Etsy.
And only 6 months after this first sale, we surpassed $5k/month in laser revenue. And to be clear, that’s revenue, not profit. So we weren’t making a fortune after taking out expenses, but it was still an exciting start.
After riding this huge surge of growth for a few months, we decided to scale back the laser business in order to renovate a 1950s colonial house and so that I could spend more time on something I’ve always been passionate about – teaching.
Today I divide my time between building Etsy orders (which we cap based on the time we have available) and teaching laser engraving on YouTube, and now in a more structured way in my diode laser and co2 laser (coming soon) courses.
